It's been touch and go, but society appears to have finally moved on from the Stranger Things finale and the resulting collective psychosis known as Conformity Gate.
...Except for Matthew Modine.
The actor, who played Papa on the show, was asked by a fan if he liked "the finale of Stranger Things" and straight-up replied with a simple "nope."
On top of that, Matthew seemingly joined the chorus of voices hoping for a surprise 9th episode. At least, that's what we're assuming considering that he responded "hoping so for the fans" when asked by a follower "Does Papa believe in Stranger Things episode 9."
No one else on the show has voiced complaints about how the season ended, so Matthew's comments are definitely...noteworthy!
By the way, if the words "episode 9" and "Conformity Gate" mean nothing to you, first of all: congratulations on being marked safe from this discourse. But a brief recap if you're curious: fans found clues throughout the Stranger Things finale that they thought proved another episode would drop back in January. Moreover, there was speculation that the finale we saw was a vision being projected by Vecna, who actually won.
Obviously there is no episode 9, but...am I delusional enough to read into Matthew Modine's comment and speculate one could still drop? Not no!
